HAVE MAGIC MEDIA, aka (hmm) inc., is a Toronto-based documentary film and television production company dedicated to character-driven storytelling that centres those in the margins. Founded by award winning filmmaker Hannah Donegan, (hmm) inc. draws on over a decade of experience producing, exec producing, and showrunning, working to elevate projects from both emerging and established creatives.

Currently on the slate is Maya Bastian’s short documentary film, SAFER SPACES, Jason Rayner’s scripted feature PINK TRIANGLES (exec produced by Michelle Mama), the Telus Originals feature documentary from Ian Barbour JOHNNY TIGER, and Javier Lovera’s feature documentary EXCODED (Ford Foundation, exec produced by Ina Fichman), Official Selection of the 2025 IDFA Forum.

Hannah Donegan

HANNAH DONEGAN is a film & television producer, and director. She has produced a number of award-winning documentary films, including the Hot Docs 2021 Opening Night film, A.RTIFICIAL I.MMORTALITY; THE SUPERFOOD CHAIN (TVO); Emmy nominated/Oscar shortlisted MY ENEMY, MY BROTHER (Super Channel); SMART DRUGS (CBC documentary Channel); three-time Canadian Screen Award winner THE DEFECTOR: ESCAPE FROM NORTH KOREA (TVO), and the 2022 film HUNTING IN PACKS (Super Channel). Her directorial debut was a biographical documentary about the hunt for a sugar daddy, SUGAR SISTERS, which premiered on CBC in 2016.

She was the showrunner for the 2022 CBC Gem documentary series, STAY TOONED, Executive Producer on the 2024 Crave Original documentary about Broken Social Scene, IT’S ALL GONNA BREAK, as well as producer of the CBC Original documentary THE LONELIEST RACE. She is currently completing post-production on BLACK ZOMBIE (CBC) and THIS IS ME LOVING YOU (ITVS), in production on JOHNNY TIGER (Telus Originals) and THE UNTITLED QUEER ELDERS PROJECT (GAY AGENDA and TVO), and in development on the Ford Foundation-funded feature, EXCODED.
